The Tayrona Park in Santa Marta is located about 45 minutes from Santa Marta. This park is one of the most well-known in and representative of Colombia. Visit and discover one of the best and the most beautiful natural parks in Latin America.
Discover a variety of biodiversity, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the tropical rainforest, the Caribbean Sea, white sand beaches with palm trees, mysterious rocks in the Naranjos region, reed beds, Reefs and the Cape San Juan del Guia.
All this contrasts with the park bays, Neguanje and Playa Cristal where the tropical forest is the driest and the turquoise sea is of impressive transparency. It is an ideal site for scuba diving and snorkelling.
There are also archaeological sites with historically significant ruins and the Tayrona Terraces such as the Tayrona village. It is a protected and sacred site for indigenous communities (the Kogi, the Arawaks and the Wiwa). We can find many tree and plant species and different kind of animals here (apes, caimans, numerous birds and tropical fishes).
The magic of the Tayrona Park is in the amazing landscapes, the inhabitants who live on earnings from ecotourism and the indigenous communities who always protect their sacred sites.
We invite all Colombian and foreign visitors who visit to respect this park in order to conserve the site! It is our responsibility! The Earth is our mother and we should protect her.
