The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is located in north of Colombia. Amoung the departments of la Guajira, Magdalena and Cesar lies the majestic mountain range of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta and its snow-capped peaks, the highest coastal mountain range in the world.
The Sierra Nevada is the origin of important indigenous communities like the the Kogi, Arhuaco, Kankuamo and Wiwa. The wealth of this region is also in its population, indigenous people who have lived there for centuries, with an ancient mystic culture. The cultivation of coffee and cocoa is also very present in the region.
The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta has been declared Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site in 1979 by UNESCO. The wildlife in the park is extremely rich, there are jaguars, tapirs, deer, páramos (humid plains), condors, paujil, mountain parrots and many others. The landscapes of this region are enchanting: forest, mountains, snowy peaks, coffee crops and exotic flowers, natural pools, waterfalls...
This place is an important legacy of different generations for the Kogi Community. The Sierra Nevada is a treasure that humanity should take care and respect. This is the perfect opportunity to connect and share with nature. The Kogis want to share with the whole world their culture, lifestyle and teach travellers that it is possible to be happy in this wonderful place.
