Almost all the 50 states in Africa have suffered the ongoing stereotype from the developed countries where they paint the whole of Africa as an Ebola infested continent and yet they were just a few states that were infected. A few months ago, there was an outbreak of Ebola is a some countries in the western side of Africa and only 3 African countries had the virus but until today, there are tourists and investors as well as consumers that are avoiding Africa including countries that located very far away from the affected countries thereby devastating their economy.
One of Uganda’s tour operators - Amos Wekesa has been appointed as an ambassador in this campaign and he stresses that Africa is a very big and broad continent with such a huge human population that need to see their different states thrive in all sectors without being dragged back by some factors that are mainly influenced by the western world. There is a lot to see in Africa in terms of tourism for example on a Safari in Uganda, you find the world’s longest river and its span is truly enormous, there is Lake Victoria Africa’s largest freshwater as well as the great snow capped mountain Rwenzori.
Africa is perhaps among the best continents in terms of tourism diversity, ranging from the beautiful weather, amazing people as well as the great fertile land good for farming which is most of African countries’ sources foreign exchange. Africa is also blessed with a lot different minerals in different locations.
In this campaign, Wekesa will be alongside the chief executive officer of Brussels Airlines Bernard Gustin and Fokko Doyen who is11F Flottenchef Lufthansa Cargo’s managing director. Doyen said he did three relief flights that were heading to Sierra Leone at that time of severe Ebola outbreak but all they had to do is not interact with the locals say shake hands with them which meant no chance of getting infected.
Gustin joined the campaign because he loves Africa and for that matter, he is trying this erroneous perception that people have about Africa. He was one of the few that came out and supported the 3 nations that were hit by the Ebola-virus a few months ago. He says everyone should know that there much more in African than what is openly exhibited like the very rich different cultures, the beautiful sceneries in different countries and also the amazing kind people.
In spite of what happened in those 3 countries, Africa has to go on and in order to regain its glory, there should be collective effort to remind the rest of the world about Africa’s economic potential Africa and others amenities it can offer to the world.
