Enjoy spectacular scenery cycling along Vietnam's historical Ho Chi Minh Highway
SpiceRoads introduces Road Biking the Ho Chi Minh Highway, a new tour which rides along the former supply route used by the Vietnamese during the American War. The roads are in good condition, smoothly undulating with some decent climbs, making it a perfect ride for any enthusiastic road cyclist.
What to expect:
The tour starts in the bustling city of Hanoi and heads into the lush countryside along the Song Ma River, between awe-inspiring limestone karst peaks surrounded by peaceful paddy fields, impressive mountain passes and into glorious national parks. The route passes many significant sites from the American War including Khe Sanh, the location of the longest and most controversial battle, and a cave which was used as a hospital and ammunition depot during the war. The tour ends with a beautiful downhill ride into the magnificent imperial city of Hue.

Go the distance:
This 11-day tour includes 9 days of cycling from 50 to 150km per day clocking up a total of 922 km. Though the distances may not be that long some of the climbs will be tough and challenging. The roads are 100% tarmac, in good condition and motor traffic will be light.
Expert guides:
The trip is fully supported with knowledgeable guides, ensuring riders always know what is coming up in terms of distance, terrain and sights. There will also be an air-conditioned bus with a constant supply of cold drinks and fresh fruit ready for when riders are in need of a break.

Costs and discounts:
The tour cost is US$2,200 (US$250 single supplement) with an additional US$200 for standard bike rental. Included are accommodation, all meals and drinks and snacks while riding.
