More Than 200 Anniversaries Celebrated on Backroads Active Travel Vacations During 2013

Berkeley, CA – While popular television shows Survivor and The Amazing Race have shown romance blooming in exotic locales, Backroads, the leading active travel company, offers exciting travel experiences all over the world for everyday romantics of all ages. Based on trips over the past year, Backroads ranks the top five most romantic active travel vacations as the Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, Loire Valley, California Wine Country and Northern Spain (Costa Brava/Pyrenees).

During 2013, the company reported that more than 200 couples celebrated their anniversaries while on a Backroads trip and some 20 couples chose to spend their honeymoons in a more active way in destinations such as Peru, Loire Valley, Ireland and China. Other destinations trending upwards for romantic travelers are Turkey, Iceland, Mallorca and the U.S. National Parks such as Glacier National Park.
