The Women’s Tour Company Announces Trip Date Change to July 3-10, 2015
Sedona, AZ — Founded in the hills of Arizona in 1996, Canyon Calling Adventures for Women is the expert tour operator offering trips focused on amazing scenery, challenging yet attainable activities, and the enrichment and support of women in the outdoors. Canyon Calling will once again be offering the Fire and Iceland tour this summer and recently announced a change of dates for 2015.
The trip, which had been scheduled to depart on July 11th, will now run from July 3rd to the 10th. Iceland – the Land of Fire and Ice – is a region of great contrasts and a destination on many traveler’s bucket lists. The tour begins with an exploration of Reykjavik before checking into farmhouse accommodations for the night in Reykholt.
Adventure awaits around every corner on the Fire and Iceland tour, including paddling class III rapids on the West Glacial River in Varmahlio, the rafting capital of Iceland. After a day filled with chills and thrills, guests can soak in the thermal pool and enjoy a cold beverage once back at the cabins. Akureyri, Iceland’s second largest city, is a quaint and colorful port town offering shopping and lunch on the third day of the trip. Certainly a highlight of the experience, the group will embark upon a whale-watching excursion – with a 98% success rate – to see breathtaking sights of Minke and Humpbacks!
Promising guests an all-encompassing tour of the beautiful Artic country, the group travels the Golden Circle, offering views of changing scenery so abundant, with plenty of photo-op stops along the way, featuring stark beauty across its moonscape, lush waterfalls and lupines. The night will be spent in Hofn and will provide guests their first glimpse of Vantnajokull – Europe’s largest glacier.
Day five delivers unique sights and a meaningful experience on the journey to Jokulsarlon. Cruising in a small boat allows for opportunities to boat along icebergs on this glacial lagoon, followed by black sand beaches to hopefully spot blue icebergs on shore. This magical day ends in Skogar with a delicious dinner and rest after quite an incredible day.
Adventure knows no bounds as the trip nears its end with a two hour guided hike on the Myrdalsjokull Glacier, which provides the opportunity to don crampons and step outside one’s comfort zone. An Icelandic horse ride treats guests to views of the rolling hill country, enjoying the unique Icelandic horses “tolt” gait. Final stops include the Geyser Hot Springs, Gullfoss Waterfalls and the Blue Lagoon for some luxurious soaking and relaxation before the Farewell Dinner.
Price is $3,995 per person and includes 8 days/7 nights fully guided tour, all guide gratuities, all transportation as noted in the itinerary, accommodations, all meals, all activities and excursions, entrance fees and permits. Guests are responsible for transportation to and from Iceland.
