We've all seen those postcard worthy pictures of Bagan's scattered pagodas soaked in the golden glow of sunrise, and the captivating moment is truly worth the early morning start to your temple touring adventures.
But be aware you are not the only visitor to Myanmar hoping to catch this sight, especially in high-season. So how to avoid the hustle and bustle of tourists at the popular viewing locations, while still enjoying a high quality vantage point?
In classic 'Grasshopper style' we've used our off-the-beaten-track experience and local knowledge to hunt down a superior viewpoint that's rarely discovered by the casual traveler and familiar only to some horse-cart drivers and local guides who are in the know. Now you can take your turn to savour this iconic moment with more of the serenity it deserves.
The morning begins easily with a vehicle pickup from your hotel delivering you to our favourite viewing location. Here we'll enjoy the moment as the sun peeks over the horizon, silhouetting the myriad of spires scattered through the plain. If the conditions are right we'll also have the additional spectacle of seeing hot air balloons take flight over this historical treasure, and our location is the best to capture this sight.
Following sunrise we'll saddle up on well maintained mountain bikes for a short cycle to our next stop where we enjoy a breakfast of local specialties at a typical Burmese tea shop. Happily fed, the exploration continues with a tour of a small but bustling local produce market located nearby.
After a great kickstart to the morning we'll join other guests for the beginning of the regular Bagan Morning Ride tour, to continue our exploration of the pagodas by bike.
