Adventures Designed for Those Who Want to do More Than Just Visit a Destination
Story by G Adventures
5 new tours, 3 new countries
Bunking down at an agriturismo overlooking the Amalfi Coast, living aboard a canal boat in France, or sleeping in a traditional Mongolian ger on the steppe are just a few of the character-rich accommodations that travelers will experience on G Adventures’ Local Living™ trips.
Local Living™ is a concept that incorporates center-based travel into tours with a charming and unique home base steeped in local character; travelers just unpack once and start getting the lay of the land. Also designed with foodies in mind, most Local Living trips feature cooking lessons or demonstrations with local experts to give an intimate introduction to the local cuisine.
Lisa Warner, director of international marketing, G Adventures, says the trips combine the benefits of holiday or vacation home rental with the buying power, camaraderie and insider knowledge and support of a CEO that small group adventure travel offers.
"Local Living utilizes non-tourist accommodation, including farmhouses, agriturismos and remote community stays, facilitatingaccess to places and experiences previously unattainable by individual travelers and couples by joining them up with other like-minded people to share the cost and experience.
“These trips epitomize community tourism and are as immersive as it gets, allowing you to dig deep below the surface of a very specific region to learn all there is to know about its people, culture, food, drink and daily life,” says Warner.
For 2014, the company is adding five new Local Living™ trips – a Northern Lights Iceland adventure with departures October - December; Thailand Hill Tribe experience; a Kenya trip in which travelers will live with the Masai people in their village and two Italy trips – Local Living: Sorrento and Local Living Italy: Amalfi Coast Winter
