"Our connection with the Kumano Kodo...
In 2012 we invited our first self-guided guests along the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Trail, and ever since we have been introducing travellers to the wonders of this atmospheric pilgrimage trail. Kumano is very special for us: fabulous walks, spectacular scenery, soothing Onsen hot springs, the most delicious locally-sourced cuisine and the warmest hospitality you can expect. The truth is, we feel so connected to this place that we opened our own Minshuku guesthouse along the trail!
...now extends all the way to Mount Koya!"
The enduring magic of the Kumano Kodo is a ceaseless enchantment to us, and we are proud to introduce a new part of the trail we didn't have a chance to tell you about until now. The Kohechi trail heads north from Hongu Taisha Shrine, through to the mountaintop Buddhist temple complex of Mount Koya. This ancient trail is said to be the shortest route between these two deeply spiritual locations. That doesn’t mean that the walk isn’t strenuous in places - it certainly is. But this new trail is an excellent complement to our other walking adventures. Our Kumano Kodo Complete self-guided tours combine the Nakahechi and Kohechi trails, with lengths of 9 or 11 days.
